Frequently asked questions from mobility coordinators about Erasmus+ placements in Spain

Espamob' is a Spanish host organisation specialising in Erasmus+ mobilities for vocational education and training (VET), based in Barcelona. Espamob' works with vocational schools, apprenticeship centres, rural training centres, chambers of trades and European training providers that send learners and teaching staff on placements in Spain.

Founded in 2014, Espamob' has supported more than 15,000 mobilities, with over 500 partner schools and more than 1,600 committed host companies. The agency acts as the receiving organisation on projects funded by Erasmus+, the European Social Fund and national, regional or local grants: company search, accommodation, logistics, on-site monitoring and administrative management. Discover Espamob'

Yes. Espamob' acts as the receiving organisation for Erasmus+ mobility projects (KA1) in vocational education and training, whether your institution is accredited (KA121-VET) or running a short-term project (KA122-VET). Espamob' provides the letter of intent required for your application.

Espamob' can get involved from the application stage with your national agency, before funding is granted: letter of intent supporting the project, description of host companies by sector, budget estimate. Once the project is approved, a collaboration agreement is signed between your institution and Espamob'. Our Erasmus+ quality standards

Espamob' places learners in sectors matching their vocational qualification: hospitality and catering, retail and sales, automotive mechanics, logistics, construction, beauty and hairdressing, health and personal care services, agriculture and equine industry, tourism, administration and IT.

Espamob's network brings together more than 1,600 companies: local shops, shopping centres, chain and luxury hotels, garages, industrial sites, farms and equestrian centres, care homes and private facilities. Each company is selected against the training framework, the learner's language level and profile — never from a generic list. See all sectors

Espamob' organises Erasmus+ mobilities in four areas of Spain: Barcelona (Catalonia), Valencia, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. Each destination has its own network of host companies, accommodation options and local support team.

The destination is chosen according to the sector and the season: Barcelona for retail, automotive, logistics and service occupations; Valencia for a more accessible budget and shorter commutes; the Balearics and Canaries for hospitality, catering and tourism, with strong availability of positions in season. Our destinations in Spain

No. Espamob' selects host companies used to international trainees who are beginners in Spanish, and offers tailored language programmes adapted to each group's occupation, complemented by cultural programmes introducing the city.

Language preparation focuses on the vocational vocabulary of the role (kitchen, sales, workshop, front desk) rather than general grammar, which speeds up autonomy from the very first week. Each learner's language level is assessed beforehand and taken into account when choosing the company and the tasks assigned.

Espamob' recommends allowing 3 to 4 months before departure to secure host companies and accommodation, and 5 to 6 months for peak periods: May-June, September-October, as well as coastal destinations in high season.

The typical timeline follows the project stages: first contact and feasibility study, tailored quote, signature of the collaboration agreement, company selection and placement offers, then placement agreements and learning agreements signed before departure. The earlier the learner files (CV, language level, sector preferences) are sent, the more targeted the placement. The steps of a mobility

Espamob' organises short-term mobilities only, from 2 weeks to 3 months, within the short-term learner mobility framework provided by Erasmus+ for vocational education and training: 10 to 89 days. Staff mobilities, particularly job shadowing, run from 2 to 60 days.

The most common format among mobility coordinators remains the 3-to-4-week work placement, integrated into the training calendar and compatible with the optional mobility unit of vocational qualifications. Long-term ErasmusPro mobilities are not part of Espamob's offer. The agency adapts placement hours to the Spanish company's rhythm and to the hours required by the training framework.

Espamob' provides a free, tailored quote, calculated according to the number of participants, the duration, the destination, the type of accommodation and the services selected. The cost is designed to fit within the project's Erasmus+ budget, which is split into four categories: organisational support, travel, individual support and inclusion support.

The quote clearly separates the per-participant package (accommodation, meals, transfers, city transport, language and cultural programme) from coordination work (company search, administrative management, monitoring, assessments). This transparency lets the mobility coordinator justify spending to the national Erasmus agency and to school management. Request a free quote

Espamob' offers three accommodation options: a secure youth hostel with private rooms and breakfast included, a 100% private apartment for 6 to 9 people, or a host family for full immersion. Each option is selected according to participants' age, group size and the presence of accompanying staff.

The Erasmus+ Programme Guide requires procedures ensuring participants' safety and protection, and provides for minors to be accompanied by adults where necessary. For groups including minors, Espamob' favours options allowing accompanying staff to be housed on site or in the immediate vicinity, and gives each participant a welcome pack (addresses, emergency contacts, transport maps, guidelines). Home-to-company journeys are checked beforehand and transport tickets are provided.

Espamob' accompanies each participant on their first day of placement, holds an end-of-placement interview with the company mentor and acts as a mediator in the event of difficulty. A local contact is reachable throughout the stay, including for health and wellbeing matters.

Monitoring covers attendance, the development of professional skills and how well the assigned tasks match the training framework. In the event of tension with the company, an unsuitable role or an incident, Espamob' handles mediation and, if necessary, the participant's reassignment, then informs the institution's mobility coordinator.

Espamob' produces the documents required across the full project cycle: letter of intent, collaboration agreement, signed placement agreements and learning agreements, mentor assessments, attendance certificates and the information needed for the Europass Mobility document.

These deliverables allow the mobility coordinator to complete the programme platforms (Beneficiary Module / Mobility Tool+, Europass), justify spending to the national agency and validate the optional mobility unit of vocational qualifications. Your institution's own assessment grids can be integrated into the monitoring process. Learn more about Europass

Yes. Espamob' organises Erasmus+ staff mobilities: job shadowing in companies, observation placements, meetings with sector professionals, language courses and training. Espamob' also organises preparatory visits so the mobility coordinator can see the host companies and accommodation on site before sending a group.

The preparatory visit is the best way to secure a first mobility: meeting the local team, visiting host companies and accommodation, validating the logistics. A preparatory visit to the host organisation is explicitly provided for and fundable by the Erasmus+ programme. Staff mobilities

Spain combines geographic proximity, a moderate cost of living and a dense network of companies used to European trainees. Espamob' mobilities take place in major international cities — Barcelona, Valencia, Palma, Las Palmas, Tenerife — where English is widely spoken in the workplace: a learner who doesn't master Spanish will have no difficulty working there.

These cities concentrate high-demand sectors (hospitality and catering, retail, tourism, automotive, logistics, personal care services) and companies that have been hosting international trainees for years. Mentors are experienced in supervising learners who are beginners in Spanish, and Espamob' completes the setup with a language programme focused on occupational vocabulary rather than general language teaching.

Educationally, a mobility in Spain allows the optional mobility unit of vocational qualifications to be validated while offering a reassuring setting for a first trip abroad: short journeys, no time difference, a familiar professional culture and an Espamob' team reachable on site throughout the stay.
